The ‘Bollocks to Poverty’ tour. Party hosts and event organisers

Here's the deal. You throw a Bollocks to Poverty party using our free kit. Your mates get a good night out. You get respect. ActionAid gets support. People living in poverty get the power to improve their lives. All because you ditched the guilt and did something you love. Whether it's a house party, gig, club night, exhibition, comedy night, sports event or summer festival, whatever you choose to do it will make a real difference to people working hard to end their own poverty.
You get detailed guides on how to organise events, promote them and fundraise. We help by providing materials like posters, banners, stickers, badges and leaflets, and will promote your event across our web site and social networks if you want us to. UK Residential examples

RSPB Residential
Residential volunteering is your chance to have a break, try something new or get some experience for your CV.
There are over 40 different places to stay and hundreds of things to do. You can spend a week or more on a reserve and you can do it alone or bring a friend.
We'll provide you with accommodation, new skills and some great memories. Opportunities further range from a Highland adventure to a long stay in Suffolk.
BTCV Conservation Holidays
Your chance to change the world!
Meet people you wouldn't normally meet and do things you didn't think you could do. Sure, you’ll spend the days doing good physical work, but in return the stress and routine of normal everyday life will be washed away and replaced by beautiful scenery, a sense of achievement and a bunch of new friends.
You'll live, laugh and cook together - and in the evenings relax, explore the area, meet the locals and maybe socialise even more!

International opportunities examples

Youth Action / Youth Xchange
You’ll have the choice of spending 3 months on the Youth Action programme working in a group with local youth volunteers on community action projects, or 6 months on Youth Xchange, an exchange programme with 3 months each in the UK and abroad. Working on a range of issues including HIV&AIDS, education, youth leadership, active citizenship and climate change, your work will involve activities such as educating other young people, helping set up youth clubs to involve young people in the community, conducting research into health service access, and creating campaigns for change.

Whether you go for 6 months on Youth Xchange or 3 months on Youth Action, you’ll be putting your energies to work where your help has been asked for, making a real difference to the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. Each project is designed to bring about lasting change for very poor communities, and as a volunteer with Global Xchange, you will get the opportunity to contribute directly to this change.

Global youth volunteering scheme International volunteers
Our new scheme offers young adults aged 18-22 the opportunity to work with us for 12 weeks on our development projects in Brazil, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Mali and the occupied Palestinian territory.
Our work is focused on protecting and promoting the rights of women, children, people with disabilities, and people living with HIV/AIDS. We have a wide range of projects, so whatever your passion or interest we should have something to suit you.
The scheme is open to everyone, whatever their background. For this reason, the amount you need to contribute is based on your financial situation - some placements are fully-funded.
This is a unique opportunity to work with other young people in developing countries, and take a lead in the fight against global poverty. It's also a great way to develop those all-important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and decision-making.

Community Challenge Project, Tanzania 2012
In 2012 we aim to continue working hard to combating the problems many children face in receiving education in Tanzania. Our community challenge project in September 2012 is one of the many projects in operation that will overcome such issues.

OUR SEPTEMBER 2012 PROJECT
Working in a team of 15 - 20 volunteers plus local support, we aim to accomplish the building of a school that will leave a lasting legacy in the northern Machame region of Tanzania and the surrounding areas. Being part of this unique opportunity is not only rewarding to the community but also to all those that have worked with us and has often in the past inspired our former volunteers to go out and undergo other projects.

Unfortunately we aren't able to fund our volunteers ourselves. But we will aid and support in fund raising, which will not only be fun but also beneficial to you on a personal level as well as on paper which will aid your chances of success in a difficult job market.

We do however provide flights, living day costs, accommodation, security, transport and working equipment in our costs, as well as a donation that ensures that the project continues to grow and leaves more of an impact long after we have done our initial work in the area.

BTCV Conservation Holidays
Our holidays take place all year round in some of the world's finest landscapes. Living, laughing and cooking together we're busy all over, all the time. BTCV holidays don't just improve the environment - they're good for your health and will change your life.

Current Holidays taking place in Cameroon, Iceland, Italy & Slovakia.

Volunteering on a Sense holiday
Volunteering for Sense is a great way to meet people, try new challenges, explore new ways of communicating and visit new places, as well as experiencing a unique sense of achievement.
With the help of volunteers like you, Sense holidays give deafblind people the chance to get away from it all, try new things and have a lot of fun! They also give families a much needed break from the often demanding work of supporting a deafblind person.
“The holiday was not only great fun but one of the most rewarding things I have ever done!”
This summer, there are 27 week-long holidays in England and Wales, taking place during the last week of July and throughout the whole of August. Each holiday is completely different and is individually planned around the needs and wants of the holidaymakers.

International Citizen Service
International Citizen Service (ICS) is a global volunteering experience which supports young people from all backgrounds to make a real difference to some of the world’s poorest people. This new initiative, launched by the Prime Minister and funded by the Department for International Development (DFID), will give thousands of 18-22 year olds across the UK the chance to join in the fight against global poverty. Places are also available for some team leaders who will mentor the other volunteers and contribute their skills and experience.

Volunteer Teaching English and Other Subjects Abroad
You don't have to be a teacher to volunteer on our English Teaching projects abroad. There is no need to have a TEFL or TESOL qualification to gain work experience in any of our overseas destinations. You don't even need to speak the local language where you are going. The programme is open to all volunteers whether you are on a gap year, at university or wanting a career break. All we require is a good standard of spoken English.
